THE MEDIUM
CANON POINT DIVERGENCEโ When Eridan and Gamzee went on murderous rampages, Eridan and Feferi survived.
LOWAA
โ Peruse the fanfic, Sleep of Reason for the Land of Wrath and Angels that Eridan had to deal with.
In his iteration of the Land of Wrath and Angels, Eridan had many puzzles to solve if he wanted to unlock a means of achieving Godtier status without needing to die upon his bed. Unfortunately, given the citizens of his planet were causing hallucinations, he didn't complete many of the required puzzles at all. Due to not completing any required tasks on his planet, Eridan gained no guidance or information regarding the use and capabilities of his abilities as a Prince of Hope, nor of the Hope Players' need to defeat Lord English(whom the players had no knowledge of).
IRONS IN THE FIRE
โ Instead of trying to find some other way out, the players(12 trolls and 8 humans) decided to put their skills together to hack SGRUB and force-spawn another prize door. Plans were set in motion to bring all eight humans onto the meteor with the trolls.
MISTAKES
โ During the fight that lead to Eridan using his wand, before he could kill Feferi, Terezi and Kanaya wrestled him to the floor, thus making his shot miss and graze her thoracic gills. In the scuffle, Eridan killed Kanaya with a shot to the gut, and was able to throw a lone Terezi off to stalk away deeper into the meteor. Karkat was freaking out and trying to stymie Feferi's bleeding when Kanaya woke up and left the room. As she left, Karkat snapped out of his daze and scrambled to the computer desks, commanding Terezi to take her to the infirmary.
Kanaya swung her chainsaw at Eridan, but he fell backwards and tried to crawl away. She was only able to cut part way into his torso, but the wounds were still grievous. Eridan was scurrying to get away from her and trying to find help, with Kanaya following the trail of blood.
Meanwhile, Gamzee was stalking Nepeta and Equius.
Before Kanaya found Eridan, Karkat started screaming over the PA systems, between his cursing, that no one else was dying. Kanaya yielded, and Gamzee seemed to snap out of the trance he was in before he could strangle Equius to death. Instead of killing Eridan, Kanaya, with the help of Vriska, brought Eridan back to the infirmary to receive care alongside Feferi.
Eridan was nursed back to health alongside Feferi, but bridges were burned.
THE PLAN
โ With all 8 humans finally on the meteor with the trolls, all of the relevant players put their heads together and began work. Dirk, Sollux, Roxy, and a host of peripheral players provided any necessary assistance.
With everyone's cooperation, a second Prize Door was forcefully manifested aboard the meteor, and without Jack Noir being able to find them--thanks to Equius' passive abilities as a Void player--all of the Alternian trolls, and both sets of human players were able to pass through the door into their newly born Universe, leaving everything behind.
Or so they assumed.
PROSPERO
IN THE BEGINNINGโ The new planet in their New universe was named Prospero.
Instead of an entirely new world, this planet was an amalgamation of Alternia and Earth. Vast swaths of land with hidden relics and ruins from both worlds, some overlapping as if world-gen had gone haywire. Humans and Trolls from all walks of life and recent centuries dotted the continent, which was still lush and wild with only one main capitol city in the center that looked like the meteor were it scaled up.
Both trolls and humans acted as if the world had been this way since time immemorial, as if their memories had been wiped and replaced with false memories of lives spent on Prospero. Any lingering memories of their true lives that came to the surface felt like far-off dreams.
WE WERE JUST KIDS
โ They were just kids pretending to be grown-ups because it was fun. The reality hadn't quite settled in that they caused armageddon, destroyed an entire universe, and created another. It was still part of whatever traumatic game SGRUB had been.
Feferi took the crown to represent her species as Empress, and Sollux as her Emperor Consort, while Dirk became an elected leader over humanity. Both had appointed and elected consulates. Over time, little by little, everyone fell mostly out of touch with eachother, getting lost in their own lives having fun with these grown-up games until reality started to sink in.
Eridan, upon arrival, tried his hand at following in his ancestor's footsteps and joined the military under Feferi, but she would have nothing to do with him, despite his performance.
Games became chores, and these chores became jobs. Jobs that affected thousands of lives, and demanded constant attention.
THE FOOD CHAIN
โ Two prolific apex species populated the planet and competed for space--and more importantly, dominance.
Trolls had the advantage over humans: they were more robust. More muscular, more powerful. Tougher skin, claws, fangs, horns. Some had psionic powers, some could carry whales whole with their bare hands. Trolls could see at night, hear better. Their social structures were as complex as humanity's, lending to them having just as much might as humans. Everyone could smell fear on the humans, but they tried to mask it.
Humans and trolls began social warfare(though some older trolls more practiced in the brutal ways of the previous Empress very much instigated issues in every sense of the word), policing one anothers' social and biological structures and customs, inhibiting eachother in any way they could to tighten the noose around the other species. Fights broke out, and civil war loomed over the planet.
Militias were formed to keep the pressure on delicate subjects(the culling of defective troll grubs, egg-napping and tampering with clutches of troll eggs, preventing lusii from raising troll grubs, etc.), and the Imperial consuls quickly established a cohesive military to combat the rampant espionage and provide equal protection.
FIND OUT ERA
โ Life finds a way, which proved especially true for Alternia's Thief of Life: Her Imperious Condescension. Though the old universe had been destroyed, Condy and her ship had found a way into the new universe, and with her health recuperated, sought to reclaim her empire from her heiress in the only way known to trolls.
One by one, the chumhandles came back online for the first time in years to convene over the appearance of a very familiar and very terrifying red Imperial Flagship.
Eridan, who still bore a heavy grudge on his shoulder, took the opportunity of Karkat's continued absence to chime in on the matter, and put forth an idea of his own. A wild and outlandish idea, but the best idea any of them could muster up that didn't include Feferi possibly being murdered: a micro black hole.
No one was particularly enthusiastic about it, but no one else wanted to be responsible for the situation. No one else wanted the crux of death, failure, and the lives of millions hanging over their heads. The chance of failure was exceptionally high, and no one would bat an eye if Eridan was lost in the midst of things--a painful point that Eridan touched on and used as a selling point as he pitched his idea.
THE LOST CITY
โ Despite efforts being frantically pooled and resources being pushed to their limits, Eridan's idea couldn't come to fruition in time. Her Imperious Condescension descended upon the palace and hell broke loose. Everyone scrambled in a frantic attempt to save Feferi and Sollux, knowing those would be the first targets.
In the chaos, Feferi was safely secreted away, but Sollux was lost. Rumors spread that he was taken as the next Helmsman, but nothing could be confirmed.
Her Imperious Condescension ruled for a sweep--two earth years--and in that time, a shaky truce was made between humans and trolls, as humans quickly recognized the danger Condy's regime posed to them. Trolls, in the interim, were conflicted between finally being free to their social structures, and realizing how confined they were by it. During this time, Eridan and the original players slaved away, stealing away caravans of supplies through underground tunnel ways.
โ When everything was ready, the capital was swallowed in an instant.
The original SGRUB players did their very best to discreetly evacuate as many citizens as they could, be they human or troll, before the final hour. But when the clock struck twelve, anyone and anything was swallowed by a black hole no bigger than a bottlecap, including Her Imperious Condescension.
After the sonic boom of the black hole's opening, the Time and Space players worked quickly and efficiently to contain the collapse of the tiny black hole before it started destabilizing the planet. Unfortunately, the collateral damage was astronomical. Though Her Imperious Condescension was crushed in the singularity, so too were hundreds of innocent lives. Buildings, research, homes, businesses, archives, restaurants, banks. Nothing was spared, and only the very outskirts of the original capital city stood. In the heart of it all was just a massive crater that would be left as a memorial site. A new location would be cleared and prepared for construction to begin for a new capital city, with reconstruction and humanitarian aid demanding most of the empire's remaining resources and attention.
โ Feferi and Dirk were both reinstated upon their seats of power. The announcement that Sollux had been lost was finally formally made, sparking controversy and contention between the warmer and cooler castes, and humans watched with interest.
The players all lingered as long as nostalgia would allow, but eventually, the bitter tastes from conflicts and events during the game's session could no longer be masked by the rose colored glasses of events misremembered.
DARKNESS
โ Without warning, Karkat came out of hiding to beat down Eridan's door. The two threw eachother around Eridan's home, but the confrontation ended with Karkat being verbally crucified and chased away. The exact reason of their disagreement wouldn't come to light until much later, when Eridan disclosed it, personally, to Feferi.
It was after that fight that Eridan felt finally and truly alone, with nothing to hold on to. His primary driving force had been to exact revenge on Sollux, and it saw him through many bitter nights. But after having his revenge, nothing changed. And, without that goal, he had no purpose, and so he fell into a very dark place. He would not sleep unless he passed out from exhaustion, he would not bathe, would not eat without being forced to by his head housekeeper. He was either in self-destructive despair, or self-destructive rage, and poured himself into Alchemical studies of the tame and macabre alike for no reason other than he wanted something to obsess over between fits of destruction and screaming.
Eridan stayed like this for a sweep, until an old friend from another universe reached out to him, and weathered his mania.
It was another sweep before Eridan could set foot outside of his study without falling into mania, but when he finally did emerge, he had Systematized Amnesia. That was, he only had passing, vague memories of the period in which he was manic, and certain traumatizing individuals he had met through the years on Prospero.
THE LUSUS PROJECT
โ The Lusus Project had already been underway since the Players had first settled on Prospero. Upon arrival to Prospero, the Trolls noted there were none of the creatures(except for Mother Grubs) around that trolls would need to properly mature. Feferi and Dirk had long since arranged for the import of Lusii from other timelines in exchange for Matriorbs, and the established military had put a lot of effort into ensuring the success of the program, but it was an unfortunately easy stopgap for humans that wanted for the decimation of the Troll species.
For sweeps, insurgents and militias threatened quarantined populations. Upon securing quarantines, poaching became virulently rampant, and Feferi saw the noose around her people's necks. If they reacted in violence to demand boundaries and breathing room, it would be all the spark needed to start a civil war.
Unfortunately, Lusii were not the only targets. Eggnapping had become rampant, Trolls were no longer allowed to cull grubs that could not survive on their own, and hatchling grubs were raised by humans and trolls alike for various reasons. Some nefarious, some ignorant, and some good. Despite the reasons, it never ended well.
โ Here, Eridan found another goal. Something to work towards and something to build. He had resources already from both his time in the military, and from utilizing the Brooding Caverns to move supplies to create the black hole that destroyed Her Imperious Condescension. He began establishing himself as the helm of an independent mercenary outfit. An independent militia that would defend the Brooding Caverns from human and troll poachers, assist in the import of supplies, and disposing of culled grubs. And in exchange, he would have continued access to move about the Caverns.
With or without Eridan's interference, the project would have found footing and made headway as Feferi continued to work tirelessly to restore the Troll populations and bring about prosperity and peace. Unfortunately, it was at this time that Eridan revealed to Feferi that Sollux was not captured by Her Imperious Condescension, but instead by himself. Over the course of construction, Sollux was rigged as a helmsman to the machine that would go on to create the black hole, and that Sollux died a broken individual at his hands. Eridan made a quick exit during Feferi's initial shock, and utilized his networks among the caverns to travel about under the nose of the law, as he was now a wanted troll.
โ In the interim, purple blooded troll hovels were being razed and ransacked. Mass graves were painted in hallowed colors, and where many others stood by the wayside, content to let a colder-blooded caste dwindle to nothing, Terezi sought to chase down the source of this encroaching genocide to preserve a very vital balance within the unstable timeline. While her camaraderie was a boon to the caste, the tightly knit purple-bloods were not without their own extensive networks of resources.
THE PARADIGM SHIFT
โ Cracks began crawling across the world. No one knew what was happening, how they formed or how to close them, especially as they seemed to ignore the laws of physics. Some cracks were across the sky, some atop the ocean, and some along the ground, molded to the shape of whatever structure they crossed. From the cracks oozed rotten potpourri and saccharine syrup. The coils of ancient gods had tightened around the bubble of their existence, and it was their blood that seeped in through the jagged cracks they worked so hard to brace.
Nobody knew what was happening, but Terezi's gift as a Seer of Mind allowed her insight, through these cracks, to what the Denizens saw. She saw that they would not last much longer if two of the titans within the timeline remained unyielding to the other's demands.
Hope and Rage were at war. Belief versus Empiricism. The Denizens of Hope and Rage continued to coil and gnash in an unknown plane, writhing and striking and shaking the universe with each harrowing thunderclap of bone and flesh thrown onto the ground.
โ Terezi's investigation into the thinning numbers of purple bloods, and into the cracks and new catastrophes starting to shake the planet, she found, were two symptoms of the same root cause.

In order to salvage a Null Session, the Pre-Scratch humans, Post-Scratch humans, and Post-Scratch trolls managed a successful rendezvous on the meteor in the Post-Scratch troll's Medium by way of Jade Harley utilizing her First Guardian and Witch of Space powers to their fullest. She brought the Pre-Scratch human planets, and the Post-Scratch humans into the troll session by bringing them to the Green Sun, where the Post-Scratch trolls were waiting for her. Her Imperious Condescension had not been able to control Jade's mind upon entering the Post-Scratch human's medium, making the rendezvous a complete success.
With the three sessions united, and unawares of the existence of the Pre-Scratch trolls, Sollux, Roxy, and Dirk set to brute-forcing their way into Skaianet through the Ectolab computers on the meteor. Upon successful entry, Sollux, as the Mage of Doom, took the lead. Dirk and Roxy supported the half-dead Captor by monitoring other programs and processes.
The three of them had poured over the ~ATH code that would run a program meant to force-spawn a new prize door, since the first one was rendered cancerous by Jack Noir's interference. As the Mage of Doom, Sollux was privy to the consequences of the program and the possibilities that would eventually happen, as well as the means to alter those possible outcomes to provide the greatest chance of complete success(even if in eventuality). So it was his responsibility to locate and alter supporting programs within Skaianet that would ideally facilitate a viable Prize Door Force Spawn.
A new Prize Door was successfully force spawned.
Two iterations of their prize universe was spawned: one that was null and in stasis, a veritable ghost universe, and one that was capable of producing a viable session of SGRUB/SBURB in the future to continue the cycle.
Only Sollux was wholly privy to this information, as he had been the one to create the ghost universe as a potential back-up and primary dump for error logs.
Other players, such as Time, Space, and Void players had a sixth sense for there being something odd within the Universe, but it never grew past an odd sense of anxiety for these players.
โ Like Sollux, their Universe was both alive and dead at the same time, with a ghost-copy of the prize universe existing adjacent to the living universe. At any given point in time, the two instances of the universes would swap positions inside and outside of the Incipisphere, and while the transition was seamless and remained imperceptible to the inhabitants, these unpredictable transitions had been what allowed for the strange appearance of Her Imperious Condescension.
While some of the anomalies created by the twin universes were disastrous, most anomalies proved to be benign and seemed to resolve on their own. In actuality, these resolutions were due to Sollux' diligence as Emperor-Consort.
Due to one instance of the universe existing outside of the Incipisphere, their prize universe was spared from the machinations and influence of the battleground in the heart of Skaia, which had been previously locked in a stalemate. This prevented citizens of Prospit, Derse, the player planets, and those within Skaia from interacting with the prize universe. However, due to an iteration always existing within the Incipisphere, the universe was still able to access and utilize Skaia-exclusive technology(transportalizer, alchemizer, and access to dream bubbles and other universes/sessions through the furthest ring) that would have otherwise been inaccessible(let alone functional) outside of the Incipisphere.
โ While the battleground in the heart of Skaia remained frozen in stasis, Sollux had reprogrammed the allocation of resources to assist with the facilitation of a healthy universe. Primarily, the Denizens of each Aspect were no longer slumbering within their chambers on player's planets, but were instead appointed as guardians to the Universal Aspects.
As such, the influence and strength of each of the twelve Aspects within the universe was, in and of theirselves, what held the fabric of the universe's reality together. The Twelve Aspects acted as the antibodies and mitochondria in the Genesis Frog of their Universe. Alternatively, they also acted as Memory would when running any console game, with their powers acting as sub-programs that kept the user-end running smoothly. Both metaphors were simultaneously true.
โ Sollux--as the Mage of Doom and as someone who was, like the Universe, half-dead and half-alive at the same time--was uniquely capable of still waking in his dreaming body on Prospit, a feat none of the other players were capable of any longer. As the Emperor-Consort, his duties to the people of Prospero were minor compared to the responsibilities Feferi and Dirk had to them. As such, most of his time was spent traveling between Prospit and Prospero, addressing any errors thrown by the co-existing universes. These errors were resolved in person utilizing his powers as Mage of Doom, rather than his skills as a programmer, since the ecolab no longer existed and no one could access Skaianet.
